Trevor Griffiths had a nursery near Temuka where he spent a lifetime spent growing flowers, almost 40 years. You can see many roses at the Temuka Domain, best viewed late November.
Trevor Griffiths died 21st February 2010 at the age of 82. Buried at Temuka, has two lovely pink roses etched on his headstone. "Roses have been his life, they were the love of his life." said his son.
Timaru has a vibrant red floribunda rose called 'Trumpeter' which is named after Louis Armstrong, the renowned trumpet player.
